Picnics

Everybody loves them! Some are extravagant, with a fancy presentation and haute cuisine; others are enjoyable when simple and inexpensive. Picnics are lovely in a traditional setting, such as a park, but many people love to think of unusual settings, such as the on a rooftop, or in their living room or bedroom.

Picnics, Picnics, Everywhere

• In a park
• In the garden
• On the beach
• In the snow
• On the deck
• In the car
• On a train
• At the zoo
• On the porch
• On the roof
• On a tailgate
• Under the stars
• In a city plaza
• In a public garden
• By a country lane
• At an outdoor concert
• At a sporting event
• On the highest hill
• On a riverbank
• On a ferryboat
• In a rowboat
• In a pasture (but be aware: cows are very curious)

"High-Rise Surprise"

Once, on my day off, I called a co-worker at my husband's office and asked her to peek at his calendar to see if he'd be there during lunchtime.  Sure enough, he was, so I packed a picnic, complete with red-checkered cloth and napkins, sandwiches, juice, and various other tidbits.  Then took the commuter train into the city. When I surprised him at his office, he was astonished and delighted. We spread our picnic on the steps of a small sunny plaza next to his office building,  There was something charming about bringing a picnic basket to his world of the attaché' case.
